Giving pugs a second chance since 1978.

Mid Michigan Pug Club & Rescue exists to help pugs

We are not here to judge anyone who needs to relinquish an animal. Our goal is simply to help your pug find a safe, loving forever home.

One of the reasons MMPC exists is to rescue pugs who may otherwise face unnecessary euthanasia. We are committed to giving every pug the chance they deserve, and we do not euthanize pugs unless they are suffering from a serious illness or injury and have no quality of life.

  • Javi - 11 year old- Male

    Meet Javi.

He is 11 years old and has pug myelopathy—a cruel spinal disease that has taken away his ability to control his back legs and left him incontinent.

Javi was deeply loved by his owner, who cared for him his entire life. Letting him go was not a choice made lightly—it was a heartbreaking, selfless decision made when she faced serious health challenges of her own. She loved him enough to put his needs before her own, trusting that surrendering him would give him the care he needed.

Our president, Brittany, welcomed Javi into her home, having experience with his condition. But shortly after he arrived, devastating news came. Brittany discovered lumps around his neck… and they were diagnosed as an aggressive form of lymphoma.

Treatment was attempted in hopes of slowing the disease, but the medication was too much for his fragile little body. Instead of helping, it took more from him. The painful decision was made to stop treatment and focus on what truly matters now—keeping Javi comfortable, peaceful, and surrounded by love.

Javi is now in hospice. His days are filled with gentle care, soft places to rest, and people who cherish every moment they have left with him. He is spoiled, held close, and reminded every single day that he is loved.
